What is a Music Video?

A music video is a short film around 2-5 minutes. The video will usually be a visual interpretation of the music. It is used to promote the artist, producer and the album itself. Music videos today are mainly used for marketing an album or concert to make money. Every genre of music has its own genre of music video. Usually if the music is rock then you will see the band performing the song in the music video. If the song in R&B you will usually see attractive females in the video.

During the production of a music video, a lot of styles and film techniques are used. A music video never has to be something specific. You are able to create whatever kind of video you want. This is shown by music videos that have intertwined different styles to make the video. Many music videos have a simple meaning to the lyrics but other videos are made so there is no meaning to the video and is has no link to the music
